I want to create several sound activated LED light rigs that will animate when triggered.
Some will be simple, like a circle that gets bigger and bigger.
But one is a large (30") round LED display that is big enough to display an image. I want to have a sequence of images loaded, and everytime the sound is triggered the next one should display. How would I rig such a large display? An LED array? spinning POV display?
Back in the day, we called that a "Color Organ".
I built a 10-band graphic equilizer out of op amps for the front end of a color organ that allowed me superb control of the colors by making it possible to enhance or subdue any one of 8 audio frequency bands in the music.
The benchmark test for a color organ is Jimi Hendrix "Voodoo Child".
These days you can get the whole package in one little 8-pin chip:
The light sequence pattern generator is a led matrix application and there are many flavors of this kind of thing out there. You just have to look. Try Google.
