Sound Reactive Relay from Car Subwoofer

Hi, I'm a beginner when it comes to Arduino and I just recently got my first uno. I want to use it as a sound-reactive relay or switch, but I was hoping to use RCA as an input because that is all I have access to in my car. I have subwoofers and the amplifier uses RCA which would allow the Arduino to sync up with the bass. I have tried searching for some sort of circuit or diagram but I can't find anything designed for RCA cable input. I would appreciate any help that could be given. Thanks!

I am not sure what you are asking with sync up with the bass. You can capacitively couple and isolate the signal with capacitor, a rectifier circuit and a low pass filter. You can design it to give you the range of voltage you want for your arduino. They make modules with a microphone input that would probably do what you want, you might check them out.

Yeah, I didn't want to use a microphone because they can pick up background noise. which there is a lot of while driving. That explanation does help a lot but the only thing I'm worried about is how I can't seem to get a voltage reading from my RCA cables. Whenever I use my multimeter it just reads 0 on the cables. I appreciate the help though and it gives me some good ideas.

You might look into a msgeq7 chip. breaks it down into 7 bands you can use all or some.

I'll do some research, that sounds like exactly what I'm looking for, thanks a ton!

You do have the meter set to AC, don't you???
