Sound sensor instead of button

Hi

I'm new to arduino and been trying lots of different solutions but basically I'm trying to change this code i found so that my sound sensor picks up the fact I've clapped and made my character jump. i still want to use my button to make the game start.
Was wondering anyone could help?

Welcome to the forum

Presumably you have tried a simple sketch that prints a message when the sound is received

What problems do you have with the sketch that you posted ?

What hardware are you using ?

thank you

that's a good point i should try that first

i dont have any problems with the sketch itself, i just want to know what button functions i should replace with sound sensor functions in order for it to do what i want it to. im just not good at this and would like a little headstart.

Im using an arduino uno and the red sound sensor im not sure if they have a specific name.
my jumper wires go through a breadboad. i can link the website if youd like to see my hardware setup?

the onlt thing ive changed is ive moved the lcd voltage to the 3.3v and attached the sound sesnor to the 5v. gnd connected gnd and DO connected to pin 1.

There are at least 4 different kinds of sound sensors -

The most common type puts-out and analog audio signal... It puts-out the AC audio waveform but biased at 2.5V because the Arduino can't read negative voltages.

If you want to detect sound or no-sound you can read an analog input and take action when the peak is above a certain threshold. Or you an read the peaks to get the "loudness". (Depending on the application, you usually want to subtract-out the bias to get the actual positive & negative halves of the waveform.) I have this one... and it's red!

There are sensors with a digital output and a pot to set the sensitivity threshold. When the sound is louder than the threshold it puts out a "1" (about 5V) and when the sound is below the threshold it puts-out a "0" (about 0V).

There are sensors with an analog DC output that's proportional to the loudness. If you are trying to read "loudness" that's handy because you don't have to worry about an audio waveform.

And there are some with a combination of the above outputs.

There are sensors with a digital I2S interface that put-out the "waveform" as digital audio data.

cool, yeah i don't want to bother with waveform that sounds complex.

this is the one i am using -
