Sound sensor intensity

Hey all, i finally accomplished making an array of lights respond to low frequency sound (Bass).

My next step is to make the LEDs respond to intensity of sound (amplitude?). For example, make a VU meter light up based on the intensity of the sound.

I currently use a small electret microphone, specifically this one: SparkFun Electret Microphone Breakout - BOB-12758 - SparkFun Electronics

Would i be able to sense the intensity of the sound, or would i have to use something else?

Cheers,

Phil.

I'm a noob. But I think you need an amplifier circuit containing a transistor to do it.

You still seem above me on the knowledge base :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey I was working on a similar project and was hoping to program a set of ge g-35 string set christmas lights as shown here: http://www.christmaswow.com/ge-christmas-lights/. However I am having problems with the code since I am relatively new with Arduino. I was wondering if someone could help me program the light to react to different frequencies of sound. I am located in New Jersey and am willing to pay someone for help with the project.
