Sound sensor to LED

Hello there,

I am pretty new to the forum and electrical wiring and had a few questions regarding a new project I wanted to work on involving using a sound sensor to control my LED Strip.

Would it be possible to connect the 5M LED Strip and sound sensor to the breadboard directly without burning the board? Or would I have to use a transistor for each of the RGB wires and then make a connection from the transistor to the Arduino.

I will be following this tutorial:

Will this work or is there too much going directly into the breadboard?

Thanks for all of your help

I will be following this tutorial:

Not if you want to drive a strip you won't.
It says instructables and they are by and large crap.

Would it be possible to connect the 5M LED Strip and sound sensor to the breadboard directly without burning the board?

No.

Or would I have to use a transistor for each of the RGB wires and then make a connection from the transistor to the Arduino.

Depending on the type of strip you have and how many LEDs per meter, then maybe.

Thanks!!

So scratch that tutorial, is there anything you'd recommend I could read or learn to help me with this project?

Or what other ways should I go about this?

Read this, it will tell you how to use one sort of LED strip.

Then wire up the sound sensor like in that crap tutorial.
If you follow the tutorial it will burn out your Arduino.

Hi,
What LED strip do your have, there are so many different types?

A link to where you bought them or spec/data would help.

Thanks.. Tom..
