This is a common cathode display.
(+) for all segment pins
(-) for all digit pins

5VDC power source was used.

Individual 220ohm resistors are installed for all segment pins.

LAYOUT

This model has 5 pins at the top of the display and 7 at the bottom.

Display layout = [8.:8.*8.]

Pin labels go left to right on the bottom then right to left on the top

[1 2 3 4 5 6 7]

Digits are labeled D1, D2, D3 from left to right.

D4 controls the ":" and the "*" from the Display layout shown above.
