"Spaghetti code" vs. wokeness

Continuing the discussion from Tutorial Proposal: Using Physical Inputs (Buttons, Encoders, Joysticks, Switches, Potentiometers):

Isn't it a mystery that the term "Spaghetti code" has not (yet?) become a victim of wokeness?

More off-topic:

The mystery to me is how something not fringe gets defined by fringe behavior.

We do get incursions by those who want the forum to be a nursery where any stupidity gets applauded but those are years apart and end when Gender Study students finish their classes on ending male-domination.

OTOH there's this other group who feel that caring for anyone not-them is an imposition on their rough individualism which ain't tough enough to not get triggered by any level of woke-to-OTHERS.
I find it funny how fast they shut others down even invoking cancel-culture while being cancel to the core.

I'm with you but it's really another topic:-) and it looks like reality has begun to take care ... Just a pity that Terry Pratchett left our Disk World far too soon...

We have far more important threats coming over the horizon here in the USA. Will our military shoot down civilians for Orange Hitler?

And On Topic: not all libraries are so good.

What is woke?

@sonofcy

Maybe this shines some light on it: What sort of Woke nonsense is this?

It is the art of taking offense on behalf of people who might not be offended in the first place.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will get you canceled.

It would be great to be able to live long enough to see this current generation of woke warriors being lambasted for their old fashion offensive use of words, by the next generation.

you made my day :+1:

There is nothing to say against the general concept of being aware of discrimination and misbehaviour.

It is the misuse that is annoying and causes exactly the opposite reaction to the original intention.

Some vocal people have realised that they can exert power by using the long lever of morality. The weakest arguments have a big impact at first.

They don't seem to care about doing a disservice to the good cause. Extreme movements are usually followed by extreme counter-movements. Sometimes one could assume that this is exactly what some actors want to achieve.

But that would require a planned approach. And today, any planning tends to be seen as malicious insinuation ...

I have seen too many @$$hats excuse deliberate cruelty with the words "too woke". The fringe on the left justifies the wing on the right... equivocation BS.

I know a guy who had bad head damage, he'd screw up his situation again and again. This last autumn he was temporarily back to homeless when some maga teens set fire to his tent with him in it so he got a roof in the form of a hospital room... how effing woke! I haven't heard the next chapter through the grapevine but James is a survivor-type.

I don't like Big Sister but I hate NATZI.

Thanks for the def. I hear the word all the time but now that I know the definition it makes no sense. I guess the right had nothing else.

except the white house, the house, the senate and SCOTUS

But hopefully only for two years once the people realize the truth about tariffs.

If you like to spend some time you may read this
(quite lengthy) Wikipedia entry

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woke

@Grumpy_Mike 's definition is shorter but directly aiming at the abuse of the original intention.

Associating an Italian product with spaghetti is a funny thought but I don't think the Arduino IDE encourages that kind of code.

Arduino is of Italian origin. You’d think they would be in favour of spaghetti.

Or perhaps in flavour of it.

Maybe that Michael Margolis' Arduino Cookbook caused the association?

On the other hand if you keep your spaghetti like this

one could call it "in-line" ...

My wife's home made egg noodles look like that.
I can defend spaghetti code only if using some assembly language to get the very last ounce of processing power from a micro.

Maybe we could use tariffs to fill the hole left by $1B to preserve Amazon Rain Forest.
