I got a mail from the forum saying there is a new post but its just spam with irrelevant text. What could be the reason for this ? The screen shot is enclosed below :

I think that the Website and Forum section would be the place for such a post. You can have the moderator move this post to there.
The reason is that a spammer posted spam in a thread that you're following.
Best to go to the thread and report the post (if it's still there).
Your topic was Moved to it's current location / section as it is more suitable.
Could you also take a few moments to Learn How To Use The Forum.

Not always spam, I occasionally reply to a topic then delete my reply because I am not happy with it, I don't doubt other do the same. However, doing so generates a notification to anyone following the topic, they then find the notification is for a reply that's not there.

From memory it was pert that did it even before your original post in this topic
