sparkfun arduino gps problem

hi

i bought EM-406 sparkfun shielded GPS and i folowed this tutorial

but when i run the program the output is nothing so what can i do to solve this problem and is removing solder jumpers going to help, also is this is any additional wiring than the ones mentioned in the tutorial needed in case of removing the jumpers or not

Your shield:

  • UART Selection Switch: If the UART is selected, the GPS module will be connected to Arduino digital pins 0 and 1. If DLINE is selected, the GPS will be connected to digital pins 2 and 3 (default) or potentially any other digital pin. DLINE must be selected in order to upload code.

Use pins 2,3 for softwareserial
