Hi everyone!
I'm new to the forum :D. I wanted to ask a few questions -
i) Does Spark fun Manufacture the ID 20 themselves (i don't think so btw)
ii) Who Manufactures the ID 20? ( ID innovations??? - i visited the world wide web (dot) id-innovations (dot) com and didn't find it helpful :S)
iii) Where can I find a distributor for the ID 20 module?
iv) Are there longer range modules available with the same encryption/communication type.
v) Those who used the ID 20 - how do you guys find it. - i.e. did you have any problems relating to false readings, misreadings etc. etc.
anyone?? please ![]()
Does anyone know the answer to this??
or can anyone suggest an alternative place to buy the ID-20 as sparkfun is out of stock...
Thanks in advance ![]()
A simple Google search for "sparkfun id 20": sparkfun id 20 - Google Search and on the 1st page of hits these people have them in stock - I guess on the next few pages you'll find others with them in stock:
Thanks for your replies,
@richard
I did email them , but didn't get any reply. though i'll try again
@storm
thanks for the websites, these websites are also listed on sparkfun's website(they are sparkfun's distributors or something)... some of them still have it in stock, though these shops have it much more expensive than sparkfun... so i was searching for the manufacturer, as i want to order more than one module.. and so get it cheaper.. Also shipping is pretty expensive for me :S ![]()
I thought about using the ID-20, but went with the Parallax RFID reader instead. I've used a lot of Parallax products and they all seem to be quality. Plus a lot of people have used the Parallax with Arduinos. You can ebay them for $30 shipped. Or less if you buy more...
if your in the states radio shack is clearing out the parallax model for 10 bucks
otherwise, look to see what is out there, sparkfun is not the sole vender of rfid stuff, nor is ID-Innovations (what a cheese name btw) the only maker
Thanks for your replies
@osgeld and @vinhtvu2
Is the parallax housed the same way as the ID-20 or similar?
As far as i know it(Parallax) has an external antenna.
Also, what format does the parallax output in? is it the same as ID-20?
Does Parallax operate at 125kHz?
Also is there any advantage of using 13 MHz over 125 kHz?
Thanks in advance
Hope i'm not being a pain in the neck backside.
I use the ID20 for my door unlock project. It works great, have no problems. The reason I choose it over the parallax one is because its not as tall, I used a very small box for it all.
