Speaker advice

Hi all,

I have been playing around the last few day with an LM386 op-amp.

I have been doing the basic setup in the data sheet.

I had it working fine for the first few setups, then nothing. I was going crazy. I have a book from radio shack with the same setup. but in it diagram it uses an 8 ohm speaker. I was using and old 4 ohm frpm some old computer speakers.

I grabbed the other one I had and my circuit worked fine.

Now the question I have is, How do I protect my 4 ohm speaker. I know I could just go out and pick up and 8 ohm. but I would still like to know incase I need to do something in the future.

Thanks

4 ohm resistor?

Hi, if you have two 4ohm speakers put them in series and run them as an 8ohm.
A series 4ohm resistor would also do the job, but speaker output would be down.
