Speaker is too quiet

Hello,

my english is not good so i hope someone understand what i want and can help me

I am new in doing with arduino and my actual Problem ist my Speaker noise. I use a geeetech VS1053B Mp3 Shield to read some mp3 files. The VS1053B has a headfone output i use for my 8Ohm Speaker. So it is very quiet. Now i use an amplifter for higher noise. When i use it direktly with a batteriepack to bring some tone to the speaker the noise is ok. When is use the mp3Shield headfone output with the same speaker and the same amplifter it is too quiet!

Is there any option to change the noise by programming? My Projekt is using the attached libraries. I would be so happy if anyone can help me. Its the last Problem before my Project (first Arduino Project) ist done :sunglasses:

Thank you

Nikolas

The VS1053 datasheet says:

Stereo earphone driver capable of driving a 30 Ohm load

That means 30 Ohms or more. Most headphones are 32 Ohms or more. With lower impedance/resistance, more current flows (Ohm's Law), and in this case it would be too much current for the chip.

Also, headphones are right next to your ear so they don't have to be as loud as a speaker.

The English word "noise" usually means unwanted sound. For example if you are recording or making a video of a lecture and people in the audience are talking and rattling papers and making noise, that's "noise". The speaker you are trying to record isn't noise. Technically, we talk about "signal-to-noise ratio" where the desired sound is the signal and any unwanted sounds are noise.

No it is a hardware problem.
You need more gain on your amplifier.

Thank you all for helping. Ok. I have to Do with hardware...

I use this amplifier. Maybe i made a mistake? I use the wire left and right from the headfone pin instead of DACO. The gnd wire goes to gnd.

Is this right?

In my opinion the loudness is more than i hear. The noise (and now i mean noise  ) is much louder than my soundfile i would like to hear.

Just turn up the volume  J/K, I think what some of the previous people said is going to help you.
