Hi all, Just got a Speakjet today and I'm successfully using it with the Phrase Translator software. I would like to trigger sounds in EEPROM via push buttons but I don't know how to wire up the buttons (switches). Has anyone accomplished this?
Wire the chip’s input directly to one of the arduino pins. Make that pin an output and simply set it high or low. The outputs from the chip are similarly connected only make the corresponding arduno pins an input then you can read if the chip is ready, it is speaking or the buffer is half full. Don’t forget to connect the Gnd of the chip to the Gnd of the arduino.
Thanks! Is it possible to just wire a switch without using the Arduino? Not sure how to create a 'high' and 'low' state with just components.

Just like you wire a button or switch into an arduino. Resistor 1K to 10K from input to +5v. Switch or push to make button from input to ground.
Genius! Works great. Thank you!
