I have recently bought a Spider XL (Hexbug) at the Conrad shop (in Berlin) and now I was wondering if this nice RC robot can be modified using Arduino hardwares and softwares. 
The Spider XL has no USB doors (or other types of input/output doors), so this make me ask how I can use Arduino softwares (if it's possible) on it.
If Arduino hardwares and softwares can be applied, can I provide my Spider XL with more functions?
An example of function could be to provide the Spider XL with a micro-camera that, via a Bluetooth or IR connection with a phone, shows on the phone screen what the Spider XL sees.
Obviously any type of change would include a change in its small controller with a different one (e.g. a consolle controller), to support and control the new extra functions.
