Can you please read the "How to use the forum" and describe your project and ask some detailed questions?
You are going to a university. Show us that this is true. I am sure you do not communicate like that at the university. 
It’s actually not that hard once you’ve built the mechanism.
The tricks are in the 2D plotting, with depth clipping in a constant plane (the sand surface).
Build your mechanism, and post photos & details of your hardware and drivers etc.
