SSL Certificate Updater - WIFI NINA

What is the crypto chip (ATECC608A) used for on the Nano IOT 33? Is it used for SSL certificates in communication with the Wifi NINA module?

Also, is there any independent sketch to update SSL certificates? I would like to do this remotely via a server, instead of having to plug into the arduino every time.
