ST7789 Display turns off straight after data gets written to it

Hi There,
I have this cheap prototyping board that I brought from Temu, It features an inbuilt screen and an ESP8266MOD chip soldered onto some driver board. I figured out how everything was wired up (due to the lack of documentation this took a while) and I can print stuff on the display. However straight after the display is written to, it turns off. On the Panelook website it says that the driver needs to be ST7789V2 even though I cannot find that library This is the link to the display. I was using the Adafruit ST7789 library.

Any help would be much appriciated, My code is as follows:
