No as you can see from the discussion and the playground.

E.g. suppose the linux side has completely crashed, and it can not execute anything anymore, how would you be able to recover from such a state.
A crash is what I try to avoid. I assume the watchdog should start a reboot.

Do you know which script the watchdog runs when the linux fails? Does it run reboot or /sbin/reboot?
