Stairs LED strips with m motion and photoresistors

Hello,

Im new guy playing with arduino.

I just move in new house and i need to find best way for me stairs lights.

My idea is make stair lighting using: led strip (I need about 12 meters) , motion detection (for on/off ligts) and photoresistor (detect when turn on or off motion detection).

Maybe someone have been made someting like that? Can give me advice how to build that.

The biggest problem for me is how to connect everything with arduino, there are more then 12 meters led strip. Maybe i need someting more when led strip is so long?

So thank you

Nothing you have described so far indicates an application for a microprocessor.

Commercial motion detectors generally have the photo-resistor built in as well as a delay circuit. You just connect one to the LED strip(s). You can modify a cheap mains unit to run from 12 V and its relay will control your LEDs.

Hey but what if you wanted to have a ramp up effect and so as one LED strip light is triggered, the rest of them turn on and light up your way.

Any idea on how to get about that? I am looking to do this with my house as well, but the problem i have is that the behing portion of the stairs that connect the main floor to the second floor is blocked off by drywall so I don't know how to go about it.

Most of the individuals who did similar tutorials and instructions had access to the back portion of the stairs to wire it all efficiently. I'm not so lucky.
