Standalone device - making Sound with IOT data

Hi There,

This is my first time posting :o

I am trying to figure out a way to make sound with incoming IOT data. I have previously managed something similar a long time ago and have lost my code to the depths and so am starting over but know that it works when linked up to a computer.

This time however I am wanting to have a freestanding device. One that does not need to be hooked up to a computer - i.e. - midi to garageband in order to work.

I am looking for a shield to do this with and I have come across the Adafruit "Music Maker" MP3 Shield w/3W Stereo Amp which has an onboard - built in MIDI synth/drum machine. I think this may work but it only works with Uno/Leonardo or Mega and so I think I need to figure out how to get one of these board online in order to work with IOT.

Does anyone know which would be the best way to make an UNO as to be able to receive IOT data - I know Uno R3 is coming but its not here yet and I really wanna get going on this project!

Thank you to anyone who can help

Welcome. Please read the the sticky post at the top of each forum listing entitled “How to use this forum”.

You want to make what kind of sound? Coherent sound as in music or is random noise okay? Your description leaves a lot of room for interpretation and what does IOT have to do anything here? Other than being an acronym for Internet of Things, it’s a pretty useless term, especially in the context in which you’ve used it.

FWIW, the Uno R3 has been on the market for years.
