confused why the code needs to know about months if it's a daily thing.
why not maintain a list (array) of hours, up to 24 that are set to the hours scheduled for misting?
that list can be default have just 12 entries: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23. it could have 24. but it could have just a few specified by the user. an entry of 0 is unused
at the top of each hour, the list is checked for a matching hour value
