Starting kit

Hello everyone! I am really sorry if I posted this thread in a wrong section.

So basically I am an it student (just finished my college, I am going to university now to study computer science) and so far I did only java, php and VB programming. I also learned basics of c++ on my own (not in the college)

I am really interested in programming, electronics but I know that after the college the knowledge I have isn't the best and there is still a lot of stuff to learn for me.

I decided to buy arduino uno (its coming to me) to mess around with it, create some simple projects (like a controller that will turn on my lamp when it gets dark outside) and in general just to play around with it to learn a bit more about it.

So I have bought my arduino and I am wondering if there's any good kit that you'd recommend me to buy with LEDs, the board, some wires and all that stuff that people use with arduino in videos on youtube. I am new into this kind of stuff and I don't really know what to get.

Here you can find a lot of arduino kits ! Kits - all products - SparkFun Electronics

Best advice is to get familiar with digikey.com, mouser.com, dipmicro.com, taydaelectronics.com, and get the parts you need for a project, some extras, and some other interesting bits.
Starter kits never seem to have quite what you want or need.
Pick one up from somewhere so you have a protoboard, some resistors and caps and LEDs, then start getting specific parts.

Thanks guys for your answers

I got 1 more question though. Could you link me some good forums/websites about electronics, arduino and that kind of stuff? Somewhere I could learn more about the topic.

This is the best place to learn about Arduino.
You could also get a copy of my book, Arduino for Teens, from Amazon.

Clearly!

Product placement?

Good stuff I gather.

Well, you did ask about "electronics, arduino and that kind of stuff" and the book was written for those with some programming experience and just getting into embedded electronics.
