Stepper drivers in parallel??

Hey Guys,

So I have a Adafruit Motor Controller V2.3, I am trying to power a wantai 42BYGHW811 (2.5A) Stepper. It runs pretty well wired normal if a place a big heat sink on that driver IC. I was wondering if anyone knew, or heard of these TB6612's ran in parallel? My thought is a little different then other ways. Could I just stack the two IC's? Then at least every signal will be the same to both IC's, hopefully make the output synchronized?

Any thoughts? Could this work?

That stepper motor needs a specialized stepper motor driver that is capable of delivering 2.5 amps. And 2.5 amps is beyond the capacity of the cheap drivers such as the Pololu DRV8825 so you are probably faced with buying a much more expensive driver.

Yes, you could run the TB6612 in parallel but you wouldn't be able to run each at their full rated power; they wouldn't balance well and one or the other would have a tendency to do most of the work.
