I have been using Arduino with A4988 and a code I downloaded for several days, after a few months I tried to start the program again, and the motor shake to start but stopped and did not work anymore although Arduino is going through the cycle according the lights, but not the motor, I replaced first the A4988 driver and later the motor
, with the same result. What could I be doing wrong?
What is the voltage at the motor terminals when it is trying to run. Did you recompile the code, if so have any of the libraries changed.
Maybe the cat has stepped on the breadboard.
What lights? The A4988 driver has no lights. Please post a wiring diagram and clear photos of your wiring.
What are the specifications of the motor power supply (output voltage and rated current)?
What is the coil current limit set to on the A4988 (the value of Vref)?
Post a data sheet for the motor.
Hi,
Have you got a DMM to check the power supply for the stepper driver?
What is your power supply?

Are you sure that you connected the coils the same way round as you did originally? If you do not then the result is that the motor doesn't move but shakes or buzzes.
Prolonged use like this could damage the stepping motor driver, but not the stepping motor itself.
The simple remedy is to swap over the wires of one coil and try again.
