I am just contemplating the power supply for my stepper motors and stepper driver.
I have bought 4 geared nema 23 stepper motors.
and a 4 axis stepper motor driver with a 3 amp drive current.
and the power supply I have is 36VDC, 10 Amps and 350 Watts.
Is my power supply enough to supply the driver and 4 stepper motors.
Sounds it! What is the rating of the motors (current)? 3A like the driver?
Somewhere I read that for chopper drive steppers you take the sum of motor
currents, divide by two and that gives a reasonable value for current for supply
(after all the drivers are stepping down voltage and stepping up current).
You might want to search around on CNC forums for more advice, as I'm guessing
that's the purpose of the 4-axis system there.
