Stepper motor speed control

question. I am making a filament maker for 3d printing but im using a hot glue gun as the part that melts the soda pop bottle.

I was going to use a 12v drill and a hose clamp to control the speed of the drill to pull the filament out. But i have an arduino board that i have never used and an extra nema 17.

I have never programmed or used the board so i have no idea what i am doing. Is there a way to hook the motor to the board, use a potentiometer to control the speed of the motor?

If so, a great tutorial on how to do it would be awesome or a youtube that is actually correct?

You can visit some stepper topics to get ideas.
All kinds of motors need drivers and external power supplies.

What is the melting temperature of "hotglue" and what is the melting temperature of PETE and HDPE?

You will have fun learning as you apply yourself.

No. You must use a motor driver. The motor driver will be controlled by the microcontroller.
