MS1 and MS2 were originally shorted bc that's what the first driver pinout I found said, but I've removed that jumper wire after reading other pinout diagrams and posts. The GND pin next to Vmot is connected currently and in the first image. The tutorial you sent was helpful, but didn't bring up any issues I hadn't already checked.
