Strange I2C address found

Hello folks,

Got a strange result when using the I2C scanner. I got a Mega 2560 with a 2004 LCD, a RTC, one MCP23017 and one PCA9548A:

06:22:45.368 -> #1: Scanning...
08:22:22.027 -> I2C device found at address 0x24  !  (MCP23017)
08:22:22.067 -> I2C device found at address 0x27  !  (LCD)
08:22:22.147 -> I2C device found at address 0x3C  !  (PCA9548A)
08:22:22.147 -> I2C device found at address 0x50  !
08:22:22.187 -> I2C device found at address 0x68  !  (RTC)
06:22:45.528 -> done

I'ts the 0x50 address. I do not know what it is but on this page it say it is a FRAM module, which I do not have.

Any suggestions?

Some RTC modules have an extra memory chip on them, but you did not tell us which you have.

This is the RTC3231 Module that holds an EEPROM chip having selectable address range: 0x50-0x57.

Ah... yes, that must be the explanation. Did not thought about that when doing the scanning.

Thanks :slight_smile:
