Strange laptop power icon phenomenon

A while ago, I noticed the power icon (the little battery) had disappeared from my Dell Win 10 laptop taskbar.

Even though I knew I had not turned the icon off, I went to taskbar settings, viewed the area where it shows what icons are enabled, and Lo! it was of course still turned on.

BUT and here's the odd part, the blue box which should have contained the battery, was just a plain blue box with no battery inside.

On reboot, it fixed itself. Since then it's happened half a dozen or so times... As I write this it's working... tomorrow it may be gone again...

Here's a pic of the blue box with the icon, and another with my attempt to blue-out the battery since I don't have a screen shot of it not working.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the heck's going on here?

Sounds like a question for a Forum dealing with DELL computers.
