Strange servo 6 wires

Hi,

I'm currently modding a RC car that i found somewhere in the basement. Everything was going great until I found this weird servo looking thing. This servo is responsible for the steering of the RC car but I have no idea how to this with this servo and a Arduino and a l298 motor controller.

Can someone explain me how to control this servo?

OP's pics below.

It looks like it has a small, discrete set of shaft positions (three? R, Center, L?). I would use an ordinary servo instead.

I tried using a ordinary shape servo but that won't fit inside the housing of the steering mechanism inside the RC car

You can get micro servos ; with this sort of project you can expect to do some fabrication .

The white, blue, yellow and brown wires connect to switches made out of PCB traces and a wiper. They signal the motor driver where (in terms of output shaft angle) the motor is supposed to run or stop.

With some patience, you should be able to reverse engineer the gizmo (maybe with the switch connections as inputs to digital pins on an Arduino) and get it working.
