strobe was not declared in this scope

int spd=100; //change this to change the scanning speed.
void setup()
{
for (int outpin=7; outpin < 14; outpin++) //this sets pins 7 to 13 as outputs (less typing this way)
{
pinMode(outpin,OUTPUT);
}
}
void loop()
{
for (int strobe =7; strobe <13; strobe++); // Turn on (then off) pins 7 to 12
{
digitalWrite(strobe,HIGH);
delay(spd)
digitalWrite(strobe,LOW);
}
for(int strobe=13;strobe>7;strobe–) //Turn on (then off) pins 13 to 8
{
digitalWrite(strobe,HIGH);
delay(spd);
digitalWrite(strobe,LOW);
}

int spd = 100; //change this to change the scanning speed.
void setup()

   for (int outpin = 7; outpin < 14; outpin++) //this sets pins 7 to 13 as outputs (less typing this way)
   {
      pinMode(outpin, OUTPUT);
   }
}
void loop()
{
   for (int strobe = 7; strobe < 13; strobe++)  // removed semi colon // Turn on (then off) pins 7 to 12
   {
      digitalWrite(strobe, HIGH);
      delay(spd);                            //  added semi colon
      digitalWrite(strobe, LOW);
   }
   for (int strobe = 13; strobe > 7; strobe--) //Turn on (then off) pins 13 to 8
   {
      digitalWrite(strobe, HIGH);
      delay(spd);
      digitalWrite(strobe, LOW);
   }
}

The first for loop had a semi colon at the end so strobe goes out of scope at the semi colon. You were also missing a semi colon where indicated.

In the future post the entire text of the error message and post code in code tags as instructed in the how to use this forum-please read sticky. Auto format (ctrl-t or, in the IDE, Tools, Auto Format) will also make your code much easier to follow and often will point out errors.

groundFungus,

Thank you for the help and advice.
