Any idea if a library for use this OSD chip with Arduino is available ?
This mention from 2007 came up in a Google search. It looks like the STV5730a was hard to find even then.
[SOLVED !] Text overlay on video - Proton BASIC Compiler
www.protonbasic.co.uk › ... › Proton Plus Compiler v3
Hi
I've done quite a bit in the text overlay area.
We have used stv5730a for a long time.
Stv5730a is totally obsolete now i wouldnt recommend even trying to buy these, we have had many copy chips that are just pieces of plastic with the correct pins and markings.
Believe me we have tried everywhere to get stock of this ic.The max7456 are not available until late jan 2008, i'm still waiting for my samples as it looks like a useful chip.
Alternatives are the mb90050 if you can get them, they are still being produced and i have also had this chip working, in my test board the text was not quite as stable as the stv5730a.
Or a bob4 module from decadenet would certainly do the job but is quite expensive, though the plus side is easy to communicate with, just text commands.

Thanks ... i still have some of these chips and wanted to try them with Arduino, but not found any library in Google or in Arduino site ...
Had in past a PCB that use it (a ROV OSD board overlaying depth, compass, and some other infos on a video signal), but was drived from a PIC (protected, ofcourse) and there was no informations about how to drive it with other MCU ... just wondering if there is a way for do that ... suppose i have to make a PCB with the STV and the rest of its circuitry, and make some tests, but for me the hardware part is the easy one, is the software part that cause me problems (not being a programmer ) ...
And if it don't work, there is still the MAX7456 to massacre ehm, "test" i mean ... at least that have a lib for arduino ...
