I have some doubts about to power the router with ardino due to the faxt that the ritr usuallu nedd 5Vdc with 1mA. And 1mA is much more the 600mA that the arduino board is designed for. Have anybody tryed to supply the router directly from the arduino?
I have, but I'm using a Buffalo Access Point that needs 12V - 1A. This is powered from the mains. The Access Point connects into Wifilized that gives me the data I need via the DOLLx8 protocol. Wifilized runs easily on 5V, and I don't need any WiFi antenna as its part of the main front PCB of the device. So it works well and the antenna is out of the way and invisible.
