Hi,
I am using coreless motor 8520 for my micro-drone. I am generating pwm signals from ESP32 and using Si2302 mosfet to drive motors. I am getting good thrust but only problem is mosfet gives up (damages) when motor (propellar) stucks due to any reason when at peak rpm. I am using diaodes across motors to protect mosfet from back emf. Is there any thing extra need to be done to protect mosfet when motor stalls. Also, suggest alternate to Si2302 which can survive stall current.
Can You post a link to the datasheet for the motor You use? What is the stall current?
Hi, @nilyash81
Welcome to the forum.
Please read the post at the start of any forum , entitled "How to use this Forum".
This will help with advice on how to present your code and problems.
Have you got any motor current sensing?

Thanks for reply,
As per above source stall current is about 10 A. Not much authentic data available for this motor. Its operating current at maximum thrust is 1.6 A. Mosfet works perfectly at max thrust.
Following is datasheet for mosfet Si2302
I found people use this mosfet for such kind of project and that is the only reason i am using this.
Search for a MOSFET rated for 15 Amps or more.
Or..... change the blown FET, or stay away from obstacles, use a larger free airspace.
Try two mosfets in parallel (on top of each other).

This has much lower on resistance of 0.023 ohms: https://uk.farnell.com/infineon/bsr802nl6327htsa1/mosfet-n-ch-20v-3-7a-sc-59/dp/2212883
A problem is that if it stalls and the MOSFET can take it, the motor will fry... Without more sophisticated over-current protection one or the other is likely.
