Supply Power to GSM SIM900 (HELP)

Hi there,

I am currently working on a project, which I have decided to use the SIM900 GSM module to send only "sms" messages to my phone in conjunction with Arduino mega.

The SIM900 can draw up to 2A when transmitting through the network and I have been researching on possible ways to supply enough power to operate it.

My project consist of a portable alarm system, so the SIM900 GSM module power can't be supplied by the Arduino Mega (Not sufficient). I need some way to supply the power for the SIM900 (Maybe using a capable battery etc)

Like how you have a remote control, you can still power it through batteries & still carry it around the house.

(This is a portable alarm system, therefore the SIM900 has to remain powered when carried around)

If anyone has any suggestions of ways I can achieve this, please let me know!

I would really appreciate it.

(Power the SIM900 GSM module through any means, but has to allow me to carry it around portably and still function. Using like a small battery etc 3V CR1220? Would that work?)

Best regards,

I need some way to supply the power for the SIM900 wirelessly

Wirelessly? Dream on.

What i meant was to supply power to the SIM900 gsm module in a way I could still carry it around.

That is what i meant. Sorry for not being clear.
