Switching a Relay with reed switch

hi everyone. i made a board that switch a relay with a reed switch here is schematic:

relay is JQC-3F-1C-24VDC , 24v, coil resistance about 400 ohm and 0.03A current. because of low current consumption i directly drive it with reed switch an it was working OK. but i changed the power to 12V so changed the schematic like this:

relay is liming T78-12VDC ( PDF ) 12V, coil resistance 240 ohm and Current consumption of 0.05A. because of the much current needed i used bc547 to drive relay so my reed switch dont get destroyed. but the problem is when reed switch is actuated the relay dont work and D5 led is flicking but after afew seconds the relay is working. in the end after afew attempts the reed switch will get destroid. when i short to ends of reed switch the relay is working fine so idont think the base resistor value is wrong or maybe not?

  • Remove R7 (100k), make R6 2.2k.

before i removed R7 but there was no change and add another 22K resistor to R6 but destroyed the reed switch. but ok tomorrow i will do as you said and replace R6 with 2.2K resistor

  • If you are destroying the reed switch, there must be something wired wrong.

  • Always show us good images of your ‘actual’ wiring.
Don’t proceed until we see the wiring.

this is a part of the main circuit. but i dont think other parts interfering with this part becuse they work fine.

i just find i was placing R4 and R7 in wrong place :slightly_smiling_face: instead of pulldown it become a voltage divider but still after i removed R7 and there wasnt any change and R4 like that circuit is working fine.
i dont have the board right now but tomorow i can take picture
note: i didnt have a 3 position slide switch so i used two on off .
