Switching between circuits

Hi,

Im modifying an RC car to make it GPS driven but I want to leave the existing circuit on so if something goes wrong I switch it back to normal. Is it possible to just make a double pole change over switch on the battery? And what about some back emf from the motors, will they damage the other circuits?

Thanks

Yes. But is that going to work? Do you not need to switch over the motors and sensors as well?

An un-powered circuit looks like a diode to ground so your original circuit is going to be back powered and possibly damaged.

Hmm yes,Im thinking to just switch off the control box and bypass it with the other, trying to use the same PWM for the servos and the existing H-bridge for the main motor. The RC model has just two servos for the steering and two dc motors connected trough an H-bridge so there aren't any other sensors. I try and let you know

It sounds like you just need to switch over the control signals, not anything to do with power.
