Very interesting video. I wonder how the new motor reacts to the power harmonics created by the AC windings.
And why use only 3-phase power in an automobile. More phases seems would be more efficient.

This has been discussed elsewhere I think.
The problem is diminishing returns of performance for advanced complexity and engineering design.
