Table clock for wife (House from polymer clay)

Hi everybody from Ukraine,

I'm interested in Arduino about one year ago but until this time not finished any project. My main goal is "smart home" system for my new flat but this is plans for nearest year.

In this topic I would like to boast by my first project - clock which I created by request of my wife. Four months ago my wife born a son for me :) and it's important for she to know the time when she feeds the boy in the night. Due to this I decided to create this clock using 4 digit 7 segment display which will be well visible in the night. Unfortunatelly, I didn't manage to use four AAA batteries as power supplier (works only about 4 hours), so I used DC adapter from old phone.

But the main open issue was a box/package for the "hardware" and my idea was to use polymer clay and applying of some my art skills :)

So, the result you can see on the following photos:

P.S.: I did not provide sketch code and circuit since it's typical solution for RTC/Atmega328 parts. But if someone interested in it just let me know.

I like your clock and how you applied your artistic talent to making a housing for your project. What have you got planned next?

Next big project is smart house system (security, climat, comfort/media). Probably it will be set of sensors/controls on some bus and centralized server on Ubuntu/Apache/PHP. But I'm only starting.

Maybe some other projects (just ideas for the moment): audio player for my daugher, vinyl player for me :), climat control for balcony green house...

I really like the idea of using "something that is not a project box" to house the project. There is something intriguing about having a "jolly little house in happy colors", and then putting a microcontroller inside.

(I still have not built my first stand alone arduino.... those Atmega chips are sitting on the shelf laughing at me!)

New feature was added to the clock: menu for correction of the time (possibility for alarm in the future) contolled with just one button (OneButton library was used - http://www.mathertel.de/Arduino/OneButtonLibrary.aspx):

By the way, I have the question: During one month the clock began late (10 minutes during about 1 month). What could be the reason? Bad Real Time Clock module or something in my sketch/circuit?

Did you use the DS 1307? It's not the most accurate solution (because of temperature change that affects it). Try using DS3231 instead
