Temperature Ethernetshield

Hello.
I have the original Ethernetshield.

If i stack it on top of my Arduino, the WizNetChip gets quite hot, regardless of the sketch that is running. I think he is keeping his work, regardless if my arduino didn't tell him....
Is it ok, if it is around 60°C?
(I did not measure it. Estimation á la "touching is ok, touching for more than 5 seconds is not pleasant, 10 seconds hurts")

So: Does your Wiznetchip get that hot too?

My ethernet shields invariably have a homebrew shield on top, so I've never noticed the temperature of the beast. I know its a greedy little beggar as far as current goes and its only tiny chip so I guess it will run fairly warm. I must have a play with one without something on top........
