terminal programs that emulate the IDE?

The IDE lets you enter a string of characters and then transmit them all with the SEND button. Are there any terminal programs that would do this? Alternatively, is there a way to set up Windows terminal to emulate the IDE?

thanks

There are many windows based general purpose serial terminal programs that can send either character at a time, line at a time, macros, or even files. Many are free, I like and use Bray terminal that you can get here:

As far as emulating the Arduino IDE, I don't think I understand. The IDE does lots of things and there are no emulators to duplicate all it's functions.

That'll do it! thanks.
