Terrible Frequency Stepper Motor Noise

Hello experts,

In the attachments I am sending a record of my stepper motor. As soon as I turn it on (using DRV8825 from POLULU), this frequency noise comes out.

Do you know what should I do? Do you need more details?

Thank you,

João

Hi,
We need to know;

  • specs of the stepper.
  • what model arduino are you using.
  • how are you powering the stepper.
  • a copy of your circuit, in CAD or a picture of a hand drawn circuit in jpg, png.
  • your code.
  • if you disconnect the arduino, does it still make a noise.
  • a picture of your project so we can see you component layout.

Thanks.. Tom...
PS you do have the gnd of the Arduino connected to the gnd of the 8825?

Is this noise being produced when the motor is not being stepped?
If so then it is the noise from the chopping of the stepping motor driver.

Try a large capacitor across the motor’s supply. Or try turning down the drive current. Or both.

Sorry, the recording ran, but only open microphone noise.

I did not hear the noise either.
if you have never seen them work, watch some youtube videos. they are noisy little devices.
they hum and whine as they operate.
