I would suggest to study Serial Input Basics to handle this
EDIT: OK, old links are no longer working... that will make an interesting read for old topics... and I'll have to modify all my text shortcuts....

Hi @J-M-L that link redirects to Serial Input Basics - updated, when I click it, as I expected it to. What is the behavior you're observing from that link?
yes your link works and points to the right place. It now reads https://forum.arduino.cc/t/serial-input-basics-updated/382007
the old link was http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=396450.0
I had collected many keyboard shortcuts over time to quickly answer and guide newbies to the correct tutorials. for example typing Serial! would be automatically replaced by the formatted answer I had in the first post.
Have 'intra-forum' links to other posts been migrated ?
I guess I didn't communicate effectively. I'll try again.
When I click on this link:
http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=396450.0
I am redirected to this URL:
https://forum.arduino.cc/t/serial-input-basics-updated/382007
Are you experiencing something different from that?
Yes if I click on https://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=396450.0 I’m directed to https://forum.arduino.cc.
but that got me thinking. if I cmd-click (I’m on a Mac) on that link to open it in a new tab, then I indeed go to the right link https://forum.arduino.cc/t/serial-input-basics-updated/382007
weird
Aha! Same problem here. I guess I'm such a tab hoarder that I never did just a normal click.
This is definitely a serious problem.
I tried changing the preference of "Open all external links in a new tab" but this does not cut it since it's not an external link...
I guess I'll have to adjust to cmd-click. Would be nice if that was solved!
We will definitely have that solved! Thank you for pointing it out ![]()
