Testing Salvaged Solenoids

I’ve harvested 3 types of solenoid from various printers etc but none have any markings on them.

How can I go about testing these to establish what the specs might be (could be)?

An Ohm meter would be a good start. Then you can give a few mA then a few tens, then a few 100s mA and at each step measure the temperture ... is it getting warm? Then that is the max current or slightly too much. Is it doing "its thing" (click, attracting the thing it is supposed to flip) then that is a good current, too.

OK. Meter I have. I’ll have a play.

It would also be helpful to figure out what voltage the printers were feeding the solenoids.
