Hello. I have a TMC2209 stepper motor driver by BigTreeTech v1.3. I'd like to test out communication through UART, however the stepper motor to be controlled is currently unavaliable.
My question is, can I connect the driver to power and communicate with it without the motor and not destroy the driver? Or do I have to have some high watt resistors to simulate the coils?
The only mention in the documentation that I've found is on page 69 (
) which says that it's safe to detect open load in SpreadCycle. BigTreeTech made StealthChop the default in hardware. There is a special status flag just for detecting open load, but I'm still not sure.
