Hello. I have a TMC2209 stepper motor driver by BigTreeTech v1.3. I'd like to test out communication through UART, however the stepper motor to be controlled is currently unavaliable.
My question is, can I connect the driver to power and communicate with it without the motor and not destroy the driver? Or do I have to have some high watt resistors to simulate the coils?
The only mention in the documentation that I've found is on page 69 () which says that it's safe to detect open load in SpreadCycle. BigTreeTech made StealthChop the default in hardware. There is a special status flag just for detecting open load, but I'm still not sure.
