Is it at all possible to display video on the display?
Yes, but the arduino does not have enough memory to play a video. You would be better off using a Raspberry Pi (or similar)

I haven't looked into raspberry pi yet and i know there is a way to have the arduino and rasp pi communicate but for now I'm just trying to see if I can do it.

Not off hand but then again I don't know exactly which display you have as there are quite a few. The best thing to do would be to get your displays part number (and version) and see if there already exists a RPi example.
last question, the tft lcd im using has an sd card slot, does that solve/help the memory problem
