This is a brief review of Graham's UTFT_GHL library.
Many of you will be aware of the excellent TFT screens sold by CTE and others. These screens come with a font chip containing a single, proportionally spaced font, BVS. Although it is possible to add more fonts this is not easy and the fonts are not readily available. In short, a bit of a wasted opportunity.
Enter UTFT_GHL. Building on the well known UTFT library, Graham has created a font management system that enables any True Type font together with images up to full screen size to be loaded into the font IC easily and quickly. He offers a basic font uploader or the much more impressive and capable Font<>Folder application. Fonts are available in more or less any size, proportional or mono-spaced. With UTFT_GHL you can align, rotate and generally play with fonts. In short, it provides everything you need to do fun and useful things with your display.
As an early adopter I and others worked with Graham to perfect the library. It works extremely well and does exactly what it says on the tin. Anyone who wants more than the rather uninteresting standard fonts that come as standard should be looking very seriously at Graham's offering.
Graham has put an exceptional amount of time and effort into this project and it is only right that he should try to cover some of his costs. Good stuff like this does not come for free and neither should it. Graham's prices are very reasonable and his support is second to none. In short, it is worth the price.
If this sounds interesting then I strongly suggest that you head over to Graham's web site. Let's support this community-based initiative!
*** I have no interest in UTFT_GHL other than as a satisfied paying customer.
John.
