The boards.txt file - again!

Could someone indicate whether or not the boards.txt file can be commented in any way?
If so what is the required comment flag?

All from the "#" marks to the end of line is the comment

Of course I know that's a standard commenting character, but the IDE seems a bit fragile at the moment, so I didn't want to comment anything out before checking.

See the default board.txt files - there are a lot comments inside.
