THE Electronics Goldmine

So I have read many post from different people who have contrasting oppinions on the Electronics Goldmine. So what are your thoughts? ( I was thinking about purchasing some of their assortments) Thanks!

pay 3 bucks for a bag of crap and it shows up, that is about my experience with them, read the descriptions, keep a realistic idea of how much this stuff cost at other places and you should be happy

I've never ordered from them, myself, but I have thought about doing it - they're legit enough.

Plus, I figure that if anything went wrong and since I live in Phoenix, I'd take my 79 Bronco and tow chain down to their location, and perhaps have a word with their doors to get my stuff.

/jk

Put in my first order with them on Sunday night. Getting one of the mystery boxes, an assortment of 80 LEDs, and an assortment of headers. After shipping its about $21 so we'll see what happens. Hope to have it all by the end of the week.

I've ordered various things from them for almost ten years, they're an established and reputable business, and worth checking occasionally for some great stuff you'll never find anywhere else (for the right price).

Hey, digimike, let us know what you end up getting in the "mystery box"; I'm kinda curious - I have thought about ordering a couple myself once I get my "mystery shop" straightened out and organized!

The whole surprise factor here almost makes it worth the $7.95. I may never use most of it but i've thought that on a whole lot of things i've kept lying around. I eventually find a use for things. Every time i actually clean things out and get rid of some electronic junk i find i need some part of it a week later.

I'm getting the Super Box so we'll see what comes. I'll make a big spread of it and post pictures when it arrives. I'll be sure to mention anything that may be note worthy.

Looks like it will all be here on Feb 2. Which means i won't be able to mess with any of it till the 3rd.

I ordered from them a couple of times a few years back.

I live i Denmark, and delivery / shipping was extreamly slow (several months).

In the end i got what i ordered, and the prices was good.

Sometimes you can get lucky, i bought a whole tube of otherwise almost unobtainable / very expencive IC's to use in my analgog synth for next to nothing. Still have 11

They also have a wide selection of stuff you won't stumble on any where else.

digimike - Please follow up on this tread for us or make a new thread! Thanks so much. Im actually kinda excited for you to see what you get ahaha ;D

You bet. I think a new thread will be a good idea. Wednesday can't come fast enough.

I ordered a giant surprise box, it's suppose to be delivered on the 1st of feb, I'll let you all know what I got.

This was the stuff I got in my last two surprise boxes:

I take it that is from the small box, right?

Lots of resistors, caps and connectors.

Two super surprise boxes, the table is 2x4 feet.

Many 3.5mm and RCA jacks, many many diodes of various types and power, lots of headers, power resistors, high voltage caps. Not visible are a lot of ICs in DIP and SOIC, some 74 series logic and some Analog Devices chips in various functions like digital potentiometer, rather expensive ones.

But I guarantee you'll get nothing remotely similar!

Hooray for floor-sweepings.

With that nice photo I just might break down and add one of those boxes to my next order - looks like a LOT of goodies.

The BIG question is - how many of the things will be used in the next 5 yrs?

The way i see it is i'll either get that stuff from the box or i'll scrounge it up in old electronics i find around town. Since the scrounging pisses off the wife i think the box is a better option. Besides it gives me a better chance of getting something use able.

I got my giant surprise box last monday (1st) There were LOTS of small screws(a guess of about 4 pounds) lots of caps(can, axial, film), 3.5mm board connectors, 2x8 board headers, CDS sensors, coils, slide switches, 4 pin board power connectors, NO IC's, The large stuff was a 6" black light, a 9 volt, 10 amp PS (wall wart), a controller for a invisiable dog fence, a couple of 3 gear sets, 2 alarm panel covers(G6472, no pcb), LED Flashlight, a PIR Detector(G4567), a Window/Door Sensor 433MHz Transmitter (G4568)
Overall a lot of parts, some may never be used, but some sparked ideas that for new projects, just cause I have these odd ball parts, well worth the $13 bucks. I also ordered two of the Thermal print heads (G17367 $3.49) just to get the steppers (NEMA 17 Stepper Motors) which run about $17.00 and are used in the cupcake CNC. I would and have purched from them again.

I placed my first order a few days ago, but besides the confirmation email I received right after I placed the order... but I have not heard anything from them yet.... today is the third day. So the shipping is kinda slow... (I did call their customer support and they said that it was going to take a while...)

today is the third day. So the shipping is kinda slow...

Did you have it shipped 2nd day delivery, or are there other issues in play?

Well... I just went for the standard shipping option. I actually just got off the phone with their support line. They said it hasn't been shipped yet (it's the fourth day now!) but they will be shipped today... so let's see...
