avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x51
error once again so i was wondering if anyone could run by the possible solutions in case i missed any. I have the Arduino pro mini 5V 16Mhz. I have the Arduino 0017 software version, which i think is the latest.
The strange thing is that this chip wasn't workin when i got it (the not in sync error) then it worked once i downloaded the 0017 version and used the Duemilanove 328 board programmer. I put the chip into my robot a couple weeks later and now it gives me the not in sync error again. >:(
Iv'e tried trouble shhoting it myself but i havent changed anything. if anyone knows what i can test (with a multimeter) or check (chip, programmer) or change (baud rate, board) that would be greatly appreciated
Well I get the same error when I try upload to the wrong board, for example, I have two duemilanove's, one has the 168 and one has the 328. If I don't change the Board under tools, that error comes up.
But if you have the right board selected, it could also be the crystal or resonator isn't working properly.
I am using the arduino pro mini 5V 16MMhz so i think the board is the duemilanove 328 correct? I had a few people help me on the FAQ page but its either the FTDI cable or the Pro mini. I ordered a new FTDI connector but i might have to order a new pro mini if that doesnt work (which puts me further behind schedule >:( )
You can try the other boards, won't damage yours. It'll save you the hassle of buying something you don't need. (that is, assuming you don't need it:P)
Hey thanks for the resonator idea. I was checking my pro mini yesterday and i found that the cap of the resonator cap had fallen off (which I'm thinking isnt good) so i cancelled the FTDI order so now I have to get another Pro mini Thanks
Yeah, that's never good!
I believe you're still able to use the pro-mini, but you'll have to change the speed settings to work on MHZ. (I believe some libraries won't work with the slower speed, I may be wrong)
But keep the mini just in case you feel like getting frisky and buying a new resonator and soldering that bad boy on there.
I'm curious, is there any reason you're using the pro-mini over any of the other Arduinos? I've only worked with the Duemilanove, haven't needed any smaller boards yet, and when I did I just used my old 168.
Anyways, best of luck! I'm sure you didn't really want to play around with the FTDI part of the board anyways.
Yea If you take a look at my website for my robot you can see that there wouldn't be alot of room for a whole duemilanove to fit on the breadboard, so my reason was for space and weight constraints. heres the site; http://calebshome.webs.com/CO2%20HOME.html
Ah I see I see, I gotta tell you, projects like that make me want to design me own arduino board! I've downloaded some free design software.. haha, fairly interesting.. a bit over my head!
That's looking pretty good, super clean so far! All my projects get .. really hectic... really fast:P
But hey, you should take a look at one of the coolest sites ever for robotics
All kinds of people willing to help, and be helped! haha:) Alot of people keep build progress and let people track their progress on their bots! (oh and they host your pictures, and can even get some cheaper deals from certain suppliers just being a member, woot:))
